Every September, George Washington's Mount Vernon hosts this marketplace event to great fanfare. Immerse yourself in America's colonial past with a bustling marketplace, live music, and activities complete with costumed reenactors. Whether you're a history buff or just want some artisanal candles, the historic mansion will have everything you need to kick off the fall season.

There's so much to explore in the sprawling 12 acres of artisanal vendors on display. Browse metalwork, soaps, pottery, handwoven rugs, and baked goods—we can't pass up an opportunity for some authentic gingerbread! It's the perfect spot to snag a cool souvenir or get a head-start on your holiday shopping. Take a moment to chat with the artisans and learn a bit about what their craft entails.
Throughout the weekend, guests of all ages can experience interactive activities. Enjoy a chocolate-making demonstration, watch puppet shows, and see a real 18th-century hot air balloon! Live music by The Itinerant Band and Ship's Company Chanteymen will keep the atmosphere merry as you stroll through the estate's lovely grounds. Don't forget to swing by the General's Tent for a special appearance by General George Washington!

This event is included with regular museum admission. Adult tickets are $20, and children between 6-11 are $12. Children under 5 receive free admission.
Parking at Mount Vernon is free, with parking lots located around George Washington Parkway. Visitors can also get to Mount Vernon by bus, bike, and even boat! View more transportation options here.
Members of the Armed Forces and veterans receive a $6 discount on adult tickets, and Purple Heart recipients receive free museum admission. Organizing a bigger outing? The museum also offers group reservations for 20+ guests priced at $15 per ticket.
