Lose yourself in a period drama at the 7th Annual Jane Austen Outdoor Film Series -- weekly, starting July 11!

Where were you the first time you read Jane Austen?

For me, it was during my sophomore year of college, and we were assigned Sense and Sensibility. I got completely caught up in the story of the Dashwood sisters -- from their downfall in society after their father's death to their eventual happy endings. This book ignited my love for period dramas and learning more about the past through the stories they tell! And if you feel the same, then you simply must check out the 7th Annual Jane Austen Outdoor Film Series!

The film series takes place at Dumbarton House every Wednesday from July 11 through August 1, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m., with each evening featuring a different film based on one of Austen's works.

Here's the schedule of what film will be shown and when:

July 11 -- Love and Friendship (2016) | Based on Lady Susan

Love and Friendship centers around the widowed Lady Susan as she tries to catch a husband for both herself and her daughter.

July 18 -- Sense and Sensibility (1995)

Like I mentioned earlier, this is one of my favorites! You'll watch the romantic lives of the Dashwood sisters unfold, and I can guarantee that you'll want to throw something at Willoughby at least once!

July 25 -- Emma (1996)

The film, based on Austen's work of the same name, follows the actions of wannabe matchmaker Emma, who manages to make quite the mess!

August 1 -- Pride and Prejudice (2005)

The final film in the series will be the renowned Pride and Prejudice! This story invites you into the lives of the Bennet sisters as they deal with issues surrounding marriage, judgments, and money. And if dark and brooding is your type, you're sure to appreciate Mr. Darcy!

Dumbarton House is located at 2715 Q Street NW, in Washington, D.C. The cost is $6 for one film, or $20 for all the films! For more information, click here.
