Ironically, It's the Only Truck Named After an Animal

Trucks and hunting go together like cheap light beer and tailgates, and there's no better offering for hunting than the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel – the walk tall, V8-powered off-roader brought to you by the same people that built the truck for Walker Texas Ranger. All jokes set aside, though, this thing is a beast.

All new for 2019, the Ram 1500 has been the talk of automotive journalists, news sources, and the like, but we at OCN happened to strike up a conversation with a hunter who told us a few things about what makes a great hunting vehicle. Then, it hit me -- the Ram 1500 Rebel is the perfect hunting vehicle.

First, it has to be comfortable. When you're hunting, there's usually a road trip involved. Be it a few hours down the road or an across-state haul, the creature comforts always make any trip that much more enjoyable. Option your Rebel up with heated seats, and a heated steering wheel, and you'll never be able to go back – especially if you've just spent a few hours tracking on a crisp fall day.

Next, it has to have off-road capability. The Ram Rebel offers a standard one-inch lift over stock, and an available two-inch suspension lift with Active-Level Four-Corner Air Suspension, which would be our choice. Additionally, it has four-wheel-drive, an electronic locking rear differential, off-road calibrated shocks, hill-descent control, and multiple skid plates protecting the front suspension, the transfer case, power steering unit, and the fuel tank.

Meanwhile, an optional 5.7-Liter Hemi V8 will send 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque to a set of 33-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires. If you can't get to your destination with that, at least you can still tow your ATV or UTV to the trailhead.

Last is storage. The bed is adequately sized for whatever you're bringing home, coolers, and the like. Then there's all of the compartmentalized storage that the Ram offers, and here's where it really shines. My favorite is the storage under the rear seats, which I would imagine could be used to conceal your expensive optics, snacks, tools, etc. And that's just to name a few.

Between all of this, and the fact that it just looks mean, the Ram 1500 Rebel is clearly the hunter and not the hunted.
