The popular ABC TV show "Roseanne" will return to the network for an eight-episode run next season.

The original sitcom, which ran from October 1988 through May 1997, starred Roseanne Barr and John Goodman and centered on the day-to-day struggles (and humor!) of a working class family in Illinois. The new season, which takes place 20 years later, will supposedly give us an update on what life is like for the Conner family in 2018. Most of our favorite stars from the show will be returning, including Barr as Roseanne, Laurie Metcalf as Jackie, Sara Gilbert as Darlene, Lecy Goranson as Becky, and Michael Fishman as D.J.

Say, what? Also, Sarah Chalke (who took over as Becky when Goranson left the show) will come back in a different role. We're interested to see how this all plays out!
The Conners' joys and struggles are as relevant – and hilarious – today as they were then, and there's really no one better to comment on our modern America than Roseanne," ABC President Channing Dungey said in a statement.
"Roseanne" won 17 Emmys over its nine seasons on the air. The re-boot is slated for mid-season next year.
