Fear not, Capitals fans: You can still watch your favorite team play through the magic of NHL 20.

America is going through the longest sports drought in history. The spread of the coronavirus forced sports teams all over the world to suspend and/or cancel their seasons. Here in the capital region, fans would most likely be watching the Washington Capitals compete in the NFL playoffs. Monumental Sports, the owner of the Washington Capitals hockey team, is airing those missing games via simulations in EA Sports’ NHL 20. Fans can watch the games live on the NBCSW cable channels or stream them through a variety of digital apps and platforms.

The simulated game lineup will consist of the missed postponed games up until the postseason (the NHL has not announced if the 2019-2020 season will resume). Games started on Saturday, March 21, and so far the Capitals have been victorious in every game. The games are brought to life by two familiar figures, Craig Laughlin and Joe Beninati. The duo has done their best to make the simulations sound and feel like a real NHL game, while practicing safe social distancing of course.

There is another bonus for fans: deals on Papa John's pizza. The pizza restaurant is offering fans 50 percent off when the Caps win, just like during the regular season.

Not a hockey fan? Monumental Sports is also running simulated games for the Washington Wizards through Take-Two Interactive’s NBA 2K20
