Ice cream festivals are pretty cool and all, but the Gelato Festival is the festival that blows all of them out of the water.

The Gelato Festival is actually the premier international gelato fest around the world, and best of all, Washington, D.C., is privileged to be one of the few American cities it will be visiting on its world tour -- which means you’ll actually be able to go and experience/taste the magic for yourself!

Here is some information you may want to know before you go.

The Gelato Festival in D.C. will span over two days, Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9. Each day it will run from noon to 7 p.m. at City Market at O, located at 800 P Street NW, Washington, D.C., 20001.

With a mission to promote gelato culture, this festival aims to celebrate and highlight the best of Artisan Italian Gelato:

“The event gives visitors the opportunity to experience the secrets of high-quality gelato, learn about the production techniques by watching the Artisans at work in the ‘laboratory,’ and taste all the competing flavors, voting for their favorite one.”

Since the festival is essentially a competition of the best gelato and the best gelato chefs (imagine having a job like that), attending the festival means you’re really in for a treat (pun intended). Get ready for your taste buds to burst with creamy, flavorful goodness.

It will cost you $30 per person to snag a ticket to the festival, and this includes entry, as well as a tasting of each competing flavor of gelato. You can purchase your tickets here
