Are you going to work when you are not feeling well? Here is why you should think twice before going to work when you are sick!

The cold and flu season is quickly approaching! It's that time of the year where that stubborn head cold or stomach flu flies around your workplace and there is no getting around it. It is found that over 30 percent of people who are sick within the workplace refuse to leave work and take time off. People's number one reason is that they did not want to miss any time off work, time that would otherwise take up their vacation days or prohibit them from getting paid. So where is the middle ground in this debate? Well, that's a great question!Sick Not only do you make it worse on yourself when you are sick at the work place because you are not home resting, you also are making your environment contaminated leaving others at a higher risk of being sick. What most people do not realize is that when you are consistently getting others sick around you, your workplace is only getting more infected taking longer for this bug to completely get out.
If you find that you are sick, here are some tips that can help not only you but also your co-workers from receiving this infection:

Always wash your hands.

Kind of a given, but you'd be surprised by the amount of people who don't do this.

Clorox your desk, computer, keyboard, mouse and phone.

Think about it, you use these items every single day. There's bound to be nasty germs hanging around.

Take some form of Vitamin C regularly.

Make sure that your body is full of the good vitamins to help keep it happy and healthy. After all, a healthy immune system is your body's first line of defense.

If you are very sick, stay home at least for 24 hours to rest. Ask your boss if you can work from home if needed.

Studies show that if you come to work when you are sick, it takes 25 percent longer to get rid of your infection because germs are constantly floating around the environment. It is so important to take care of your health and protect those around you from getting an infection as well! So make sure you're taking the proper precautions to keep everyone sick-free.
