The NBA season started this week, and for the first time in years, the Denver Nuggets have high expectations heading into 2018-19 season.
We may have a cold winter ahead here in Colorado, but there's no doubt the Pepsi Center will be on fire this basketball season. The Denver Nuggets have been considered an up-and-coming team in the NBA and many experts believe this is the year that their young, talented core is ready to blossom. Having a hard time knowing what games to attend this year? Personally, I'd recommend attending all 41 home games, but if you can't, here are the five best games to attend this season.
1. Los Angeles Lakers | Tuesday, November 27
The Lakers are the most-storied franchise in the NBA, and during this past offseason, they signed the best player in the world: LeBron James. The Lakers and LeBron only come to Denver once this year and Lakers fans have a history of showing up in full force at the Pepsi Center. The Nuggets can undoubtably grab national attention if they're able to beat the LeBron-led Lakers. This game will be basketball at its finest, folks.
2. Golden State Warriors | Sunday, October 21 & Tuesday, January 15
The arguement can be made that this year's Warriors roster will be the best team to ever step foot on an NBA court. The Warriors have five All-Stars in their lineup and are known for playing a purely entertaining style of basketball. However, this could be the final year for the dynasty, as several players will hit free agency and can choose to leave next summer. This may be your last chance to witness one of the best teams in basketball history.
3. Oklahoma City Thunder | Friday, December 14
This will be the Nuggets' first nationally televised home game (ESPN) of the season. During last year's televised match-up between these two, Gary Harris scored a game winning three-pointer as time expired, and the Pepsi Center errupted -- I haven't heard that much commotion since the Carmelo Anthony days. Who knows what might happen this time around?! Not to mention, the Thunder's Russell Westbrook has a little history with super mascot Rocky ...
4. Philadelphia 76ers | Saturday, January 26
Two words: Joel Embiid. Joel is one of the best young basketball players in the league and is easily the greatest entertainer in present day sports. Check out any of his social media accounts and you'll quickly see why this man is considered must-see entertainment. Check him and the 76ers out when they're here on January 26, and you'll be sure to have a good time. (Oh, and it doesn't hurt that he'll be playing alongside his teammate, Ben Simmons, who's projected to be the "next big thing" in the NBA.)
5. Minnesota Timberwolves (Game 82) | Wednesday, April 10
Last year, the hopes of the Nuggets making a playoffs appearance all came down to the results of game 82. Denver lost game 82 to the Minnesota Timberwolves and, therefore, missed the NBA playoffs. It's being predicted by many experts that this year's final game against Minnesota could have similar playoff circumstances, with the only difference being that this year, the game will be played in Denver. The Pepsi Center will be charged and you won't want to miss that Mile High magic.
