The fisherman's feet were dangling in the water as the shark approached!

Fisherman Devin Kanda captured an incredible video of a close-call shark encounter on July 4 while fishing in a kayak off the coast of Oahu, Hawaii.

Kanda's feet were dangling in the water as he packed up a fish he had just caught when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw something approaching him. He was kayaking with two other friends, so his first thought was that it was one of the other kayaks.

When he realized it was a shark, he smoothly pulled his feet out of the water and back onto the boat, right before the tiger shark bumped up against the kayak and then swam under it and on.

"A tiger shark came in looking for a bite while I was securing a fish in my fish bag. Luckily I saw it in time to pull my feet out of the water before it had a chance to bite my foot off," he wrote in the YouTube video description.

Watch it here:

"For me, it was like, not really panic but just like — in awe,” Kanda told the media in an interview. “This thing is so massive... You feel blessed by its presence and it didn’t attack you and you got away from it.”

The shark was evidently just curious and not aggressive, but Kanda encourages people to always be aware of their surroundings when in the ocean.
