A story about a Virginia Pizza Hut employee went viral after she was fired for writing a dirty joke on the pizza box after a customer requested a joke.

Pizza Hut is known for a few things. Their iconic red roof, cheap pizza, and an awesome lunch buffet. Now they're getting a different kind of publicity after a Pizza Hut employee wrote a questionable joke on the inside of a pizza box that went out for delivery in Virginia.

It all started when a mother and her two sons ordered pizza online. The children, who were 12 and 15 years old, filled in the request box and asked for a joke to be delivered with the pizza. They are not the first people to do this, and other times the jokes have made for funny social media anecdotes. But this time, the recipients were not laughing.

When the pizza arrived, the joke was written in silver Sharpie inside the box. It says, "What do a pizza delivery driver and a gynocologist [sic] have in common. They both have to smell it, but neither of them get to eat it."

The mother did not care for the joke. She tells WJLA, "I was really shocked and floored that Pizza Hut would send that type of joke out. The employee even called, and I told her that I hope she doesn’t lose her job over this.”

Well, the employee did end up losing her job after the mother posted a picture of the joke on social media. Now the internet is divided.

While a few people think the joke went too far, many are defending the employee. There's even a hashtag #justiceforpizzagirl going around Twitter.

Some even made jokes of their own.

In response to the backlash the mom said, "It’s an inappropriate joke. There’s a time and place for everything. My pizza box is not one of them. It’s a lesson learned."
