The Historic Elitch Theatre may be 126 years old, but you can still catch a flick there! This summer, the theater is offering outdoor and indoor movie screenings, all for only $5!

The Historic Elitch Theatre first opened its doors in 1891 and has been described as "one of the cradles of American dream." The 126-year-old theater is still in operation today. Mary Elitch was the first female zookeeper, the first woman to run a botanic garden, and one of the first women to own a theater in the United States. Both the movie theater and the popular amusement park in downtown Denver, Elitch Gardens, got their names from her. Other famous names include Grace Kelly and Edward G. Robinson. The screening of the first moving picture film was at the theater as well. Read more of the theater's history here. Since 1891, guests have been flocking to the historic theater to watch musical and play performances as well as movie screenings. Elitch Theatre closed in 1991, only to be revived in 2002 so the history of the famed theater could live on.
