It's almost Halloween, and that means giant bags of candy are beckoning from almost every store. What should you be buying, though, to be considered the cool house on the block?
Some of the responses may surprise you. In a recent survey, along with an analysis of Google data, the favorite Halloween candies were determined by state, and the big winners were clear.

M&Ms reign supreme in Virginia, while Marylanders prefer Milk Duds. In D.C., the kids want Reese's peanut butter cups above all else ... and really, who doesn't? Nerds only appear once on the map, in Colorado, and it's clear that chocolate (in general) is always a safe bet.
You may want to stay away from Airheads, SweeTarts, and gummy worms; they barely earned a spot on the map. Let's not even talk about the weird generic toffees wrapped in waxed paper!

According to the survey, prime trick-or-treating hours are from 6 to 9 p.m., and then it's light's out. Three hours is a long time to be handing out goodies! In case you're wondering how you stack up, the average household spends about $25 on Halloween candy, and those with kids at home tend to spend about $35.
If you do give out the good stuff, don't forget to print an "Out of Candy" sign. It's going to go fast!
