The Washington, D.C., area is rich in history, culture, and politics. However, that’s not all that we’re known for. From Jedi master to the creator of the Avengers, the DMV is also home to some of the biggest celebrities in the entertainment industry.

Matt Daniels and Russell Goldenberg, writers at The Pudding, scoured through Wikipedia’s API to find the most-viewed people pages in each city, town, and neighborhood of the United States. Then, they created a “People of the U.S.” map, which takes the names of cities and replaces them with the city’s most Wikipedia’d residents. The ones that have been searched the most show up next to a larger green circle, while the ones with fewer hits have a smaller green dot.

Most Wikipedia’d Residents in the DMV

At first glance, you see that the most popular people from our area include the typical historical figures – George Washington, John F. Kennedy, and J. Edgar Hoover. However, zoom in a little closer, and you’ll find the true stars of the DMV. These include actors, musicians, celebrity chefs, entrepreneurs, and athletes.
