Ahead of Friday night's drawing, the Mega Millions jackpot has increased by $30M to reach $1B.

Hours before Friday night's drawing, the Mega Millions jackpot has jumped to a record $1B, making it the highest Mega Millions jackpot ever -- it's the second-largest jackpot in U.S. history, behind a $1.6B Powerball prize won in 2016.

The drawing is scheduled for 9 p.m. (MT) tonight, Oct. 19.

So if you haven't bought a ticket yet, you might as well get one, seeing as everybody else is. I mean, after all, your odds of winning the $1B Mega Millions pot are one in 302,575,350.

"There's over 300 million people in the United States," Chris O'Bryne, a management information systems lecturer at San Diego State University, told USA TODAY. "Obviously you have to play in the game to win, but if you think about it in that aspect it's like picking the right person in the entire United States."

And if you happen to win the motherload? Don't tell anybody. Experts say that a winner should refrain from posting their news on social media and be prepared for their life to take a wild swing. And with that much money ($565M after taxes), it's pretty safe to say that the winner's life is going to be changed, forever.

What would you do with the money if you won the Mega Millions? Let us know in the comments below, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
