The first annual Wildflower Music Fest will feature live music, vendors, food trucks, art, workshops, wine tastings, and beautiful wildflowers to rural VA.

When you think "music festival," you might imagine yourself trudging and squeezing through huge crowds in the boiling sun. You might imagine a stage so far away you can barely see it. You paid hundreds of dollars to be here, and now you're in line to spend ten dollars on bottled water. It's experiences like these that prompted the creation of Wildflower Music Fest. For three days in late July, a pair of picturesque properties in Charlottesville will open their doors to a crowd of friendly, artistically-inclined people for the inaugural Wildflower Music Fest. The Natural Time Farm and the neighboring First Colony Winery came together to create a weekend of beauty for an affordable price. The festival is stocked with delightful attractions and a first-rate lineup of local talent. Most importantly, the weekend will be intimate - attendees will be in the hundreds, not the tens-of-thousands. Sleep in a cozy tent, or just stretch out under the stars. Don't forget your mosquito repellant! Wake up with food truck coffee, do some yoga in the sun, and then drink some local wine and dance to groovy bands. Sounds like a recipe for happiness to me! Wildflower will also include workshops like Live Metapainting With Scott Frias and a community crystal grid. Of course, there's also all weekend to pick your own wildflowers! There will be food trucks, drum circles, and open jams. Too hot to stay in the tent? Try the Open Sprinkler Frolic! The First Colony Winery will be providing delicious wine (no outside booze allowed). Not only will Wildflower be a good time, but it'll make a positive impact. Proceeds from the festival benefit the Blue Ridge Permaculture Network, a group of educators and practitioners devoted to increasing sustainability and ecological health throughout central Virginia. You can learn more about the Blue Ridge Permaculture Network here. Wildflower's music lineup features some of the best up-and-coming bands from Virginia, DC, Maryland, and beyond. The performances range from established rockers Deaf Scene to bluegrass and folk champions Squaring The Circle and The Dirty Grass Players. There's also a strong showing of bands from College Park, MD: Tomato Dodgers, Humbalaya, and Box Era will all be representing the University of Maryland at Wildflower. It's only with the patronage of the community that startups like Wildflower will blossom into full-fledged establishments. Wildflower Music Fest will be held July 28-30, 2017, in Charlottesville, Virginia. You can find more information including schedule, tickets, and a full lineup on the event's website.
