UPDATE (3/9/24) — The Muskogee Police Department said a shooting victim is dead and a suspect was shot by officers after a high-speed chase on Saturday. Police said officers found the victim with gun shot wounds around 6:09 p.m. near North 24th Street West and Topeka Avenue. Police said the incident remains under investigation. MUSKOGEE, Okla. — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating a high-speed chase that ended with an officer-involved shooting. Around 6:09 p.m. on Saturday evening, the Muskogee Police Department responded to a shooting call near North 24th Street West and Topeka Avenue. Once they arrived at the scene, officers said they found one person who had been shot. That scene is still under investigation. According to Muskogee Police, soon afterwards multiple law enforcement agencies became involved in a high-speed chase with the shooting suspect. Muskogee Police stated the chase ended when officers fired and the driver of the suspect car was injured. The suspect was then taken to a Tulsa hospital for treatment.
