Some people may think they know what its like to be a Coloradan. But there are certain things that just Coloradans know to be true.
Are you a true Coloradan? Do you know the essential things that mostly just Coloradans know? Test your knowlege and share with your friends!
We’re not really “The Rocky Mountain State”
Although Colorado is commonly referred to as the “Rocky Mountain State,” true Coloradans know Colorado is officially known as “The Centennial State.” This is because Colorado became a state in 1876 - 100 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
You can’t flee the miller moths
The beginning of every summer is marked with an infestation of miller moths. No one really knows where these guys come from, or where they go (like cotton eyed Joe). But we do know they’re everywhere toward the end of May.
You spent your birthdays at Casa Bonita
So much better than Chuck-E-Cheese. All Coloradans know the layout of Casa Bonita because they all spent their birthday, their siblings birthdays, their friends birthdays … here. We also all know the food sucks, but the sopapillas are pretty bomb.
People assume we all smoke weed
No. We don’t all smoke weed. Alcohol is legal all over, does everyone drink? No? Well there you go. While maybe a lot of the people who have moved here smoke a lot of pot… the natives are just along for the ride.
Snow in May? Totally the norm
While transplants are ready for spring, begrudgingly replacing their sandals for boots as the morning flurries fall… Coloradans know late season snow simply means they can get a few more days on the slopes.
Jake Jabs and Dealin’ Doug are celebrities to you

We all wanted to pet the tiger. Don’t deny it. Plus, we all know… NOBODY beats a dealin’ Doug deal!
Coloradans know you have a friend in the diamond business
If you listen to the radio… you know what I’m talking about
Summer also means FIRE
Who would have thought our beautiful state would basically be on fire from June through August? Coloradans know…
Coloradans know you don’t need a filter
Just look at that… LOOK AT IT!! Beautiful...
March 3rd is significant
Coloradans know there is no other state that has a day dedicated to supporting local culture, businesses, and musicians. Named after our iconic area code (303) March Third is a celebration of all things Colorado. Even schools celebrate it!
