WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - The Arts Council of Wichita Falls at the Kemp Center is inviting the community to experience its 13th annual Cowboy True exhibit for the rest of the week.

The exhibit captures the spirit of the West while shining a spotlight on the incredible talent found right in the Texoma area. But Cowboy True is more than just an art show; it’s a celebration of Western heritage, creativity and the artists who bring both traditional and contemporary Western art to life.

“It really is a celebration of those cowboys who create artwork or artists who create artwork that reflect this culture that is so important to Texas and our region,“ Art Council of Wichita Fall CEO Kristen Shiplet said.

The Cowboy True art exhibit brings together artists, musicians, educators and craftsmen from across the region; all are united in celebrating the cowboy way of life.

The event showcases a beautiful blend of traditional and contemporary Western art.

Shiplet saod the mix creates a fun, progressive setting, designed to appeal to a broader audience here in Wichita Falls.

“A lot of them are doing still the traditional work of leather working, silversmithing, pencil drawing, but we have some more contemporary artists that are doing some really fun, vibrant imagery in their work,“ Shiplet said.

She adds that the two art styles complement each other, striking a perfect balance.

The result is an experience that invites people of all ages to discover something new - and maybe see the cowboy lifestyle in a whole new light.

“We just really want to highlight those people who are still working in this industry and celebrate the artists that are here working on this genre. We want to educate about the arts and culture and history of this region and keep that going, keep it alive, keep people interested,“ Shiplet said.

The Cowboy True exhibit will be on display through the rest of the week during regular business hours.
