SPRINGFIELD — A 17-year-old who lived in a Liberty Heights housing project allegedly robbed another teen of his backpack in 2024 and then fatally shot him.

According to court records, Marcos Noguera III was 16 when he allegedly shot Matthew Chaney after midnight on Oct. 22, 2024, on Nursery Street.

Police found Chaney after they responded to a ShotSpotter alert. He was 19.
