Violet Heidt had some big jumps at the 1A District 4 track and field meet on Thursday. Unfortunately, none of them counted. The Seton Catholic sophomore was battling with the takeoff board Thursday at Seton Catholic and had to settle for third place. “I just need to find my mark on the board,” Heidt said. “My biggest problem right now is I need to control my nerves because my speed kind of depends on that. If I get too excited up, then I don’t move back far enough.” Heidt had a lot to be excited about last week at the Trico League meet in La Center, where she popped a personal best of 17 feet, 8.25 inches, a mark that is second-best in the state at 1A this season.
