On paper anyways, as we pontificate here in mid-May, there appear to be two separate stretches on the
Jacksonville Jaguars' 2025 schedule that could end up defining their season. The first potential season-defining stretch comes right out of the gate and represents about one-third of the Jaguars' schedule. This series of games could end up being quite difficult.
Of those teams, the Texans, Chiefs, and Rams all made the playoffs last season. The
Bengals , meanwhile, finished with nine wins and, of course, have Joe Burrow, while the
Seahawks had 10 wins in 2024. And although the 49ers had just six wins a season ago, this certainly is not a team one counts out or assumes that a bounce-back isn't in store. Jacksonville being able to hold their own and hang around the .500 mark will be important when it comes to their overall success in 2025. Now, the other noteworthy stretch of games comes in the final third of the season. While the aforementioned games above may be about holding on, to a degree, this late stretch could be about banking wins.

In this series of games, the only playoff team from a season ago that the Jaguars face is Denver. Otherwise, the Colts tallied just eight wins, while the Titans and Jets were both picking inside the top 10 this past April. Now, with that said, all of this is a projection based on what has happened or the path that we think a team is on. As we've seen over and over, that doesn't mean that is how things will actually play out. However, at least where we sit now, these are also two very distinct parts of the Jaguars' schedule, and for different reasons.
