The DIII softball national championship dates back to 1982, with Eastern Connecticut State claiming the first national title over TCNJ and going undefeated in the finals series. Most recently, East Texas Baptist won the 2024 DIII softball national championship , securing its first title since 2010 and second in program history. They beat Belhaven, 9-5.
