After a season that will forever be seared into the minds of Arizona State football fans, star running back Cam Skattebo takes the next step of his career this weekend at the 2025 NFL combine in Indianapolis. Skattebo is the only Sun Devils player invited to the combine this year.

All eyes are on Skattebo, and the rest of the running back draft class, as the former FCS transfer from Sacramento State is one of the players who scouts and analysts are most looking forward to seeing.

Live coverage of the combine begins at 1 p.m. Arizona time on Thursday and lasts until 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 2.

The Arizona Republic will be tracking all things related to Skattebo at the NFL combine. Follow along for updates.

Skattebo stopped by the CHGO Bears podcast and revealed he has met with the Chicago Bears . "I had a meeting with the Bears," Skattebo said. "...There's a possibility I meet with them again here when I do informals tonight."

Here's the full chat below.

Skattebo also told reporters he met with the Denver Broncos at the combine. "It went well," said Skattebo .

Staying in the Valley? Skattebo confirmed to PHNX Cardinals that he has already had an informal meeting with the Arizona Cardinals . He also said that he will have an official visit with the team — his first — at their facility in Tempe ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Here's that chat between Skattebo and PHNX.

No 40-yard dash for Skattebo

There will be no 40-yard dash for Skattebo at the combine. Skattebo said he will do the broad and vertical jump at the combine, and nothing else for drills.

The 40-yard dash from Skattebo was widely anticipated from analysts and scouts, but they will have to wait. The plan is to do the rest of the drills at ASU's pro day. The Big 12 will be hosting its conference-wide pro day in Frisco, Texas, from March 18-21.

Skattebo takes the stage

Cam Skattebo has arrived at Lucas Oil Stadium and took the podium to give his opening remarks. FOX10's Blake Niemann captured some of what Skattebo had to say.

The official account for Arizona State football shared this photo of Skattebo from the combine.

NFL draft analyst talks Skattebo

“This kid, he just chooses violence. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a more aggressive runner who just seeks out contact and can absorb contact. When I was looking for a comp for him, my first thought was, ‘OK, he’s like a shrunk-down James Conner.’"

The most to prove?

Judging by the number of articles written about the subject, Skattebo is labeled as a top player with the most to prove.

Skattebo has just two seasons of data at the FBS level for teams to pour over, meaning he has an uphill battle to climb in the draft process. One of those seasons was one of the best in school history as Skattebo ran for 1,586 yards (No. 2 all-time for ASU) and 19 touchdowns (No. 1) in the regular season. Skattebo also hauled in 506 yards through the air. He was the first player in FBS since Christian McCaffrey in 2015 to record 1,500 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a single season.

Todd McShay on Skattebo

Over the years, Todd McShay has developed into one of the most preeminent voices on the NFL draft. McShay joined ESPN in 2006 and was part of the company’s coverage alongside Mel Kiper Jr. McShay has since moved to The Ringer, where he hosts a podcast, “The McShay Show,” alongside his colleague, Steve Muench of Scouts Inc.

“I moved him up slightly as I’m starting to watch everybody else. I can tell you this: I talked to a scout this week who is bullish on him. … Second-tier.”
