The streets of Penrose, usually punctuated by the sounds of everyday life, were instead shaken by gunfire that has resulted in another name being etched on the tragic ledger of homicides. Joshua Conklin, a 25-year-old man from the 4100 block of North Newstead, has been confirmed as the individual who was fatally shot on June 1. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department , the incident occurred before 8:15 p.m. in an alley on the 4800 block of Kossuth. The details surrounding Conklin's death are sparse, but it is known that upon receiving a distress call, police officers discovered him on the ground, with wounds that spoke silently and fatally of gun violence. Despite the swift response of EMS, who pronounced him deceased at the scene, their efforts could not negotiate with the finality of Conklin's wounds. The investigation, as it digs into the heart of the incident, keeps its focus on unraveling the precise circumstances, that led to this abrupt end of a human story. Homicide detectives are working to find out what happened in the alley after a gun was reported. Anyone with information is urged to contact authorities. Updates will be shared as the investigation continues.
