With two district titles, two personal bests and two top-10 state marks earned, Thursday was a good day for Ridgefield’s Brian McLemore III. The Ridgefield junior claimed wins in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles at the Class 2A District 4 track and field meet at Columbia River High School ahead with two PRs ahead of next week’s 2A state meet in Tacoma. In the 110 hurdles, McLemore clocked a time of 15.25 seconds, the sixth fastest time in the state among 2A boys. McLemore edged Tumwater’s Reid Crumley by two hundredths of a second in the 300 hurdles, finishing in 40.67 seconds, which ranks eighth in the state. On the girls’ side, Mark Morris sophomore Elsie Herold was also a multi-event champion in the 100 and 300 girls hurdles. Herold won the 100 hurdles in 15.71 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 46.52 seconds. Herold owns the second and third fastest times, respectively, among 2A girls statewide, though both times were set prior to Thursday’s district meet.
