WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - 1 p.m. Update: Wichita police believe alcohol was a factor in a crash that injured four people, including three teenagers, in downtown Wichita early Friday morning. WPD Capt. Aaron Moses said a car with multiple people trapped was found around 3:30 a.m. in the 2000 block of East Douglas, under the I-135 overpass. The car collided with the concrete barrier for the canal on the south side of Douglas. The 17-year-old female driver had obvious injuries and was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Three passengers - a 17-year-old girl, a 19-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man - were also taken to the hospital in serious condition. “At this time, we do believe that alcohol was a factor in the collision, and our investigation is ongoing,” said Moses. Three people were injured in a crash early Friday in east Wichita. It happened just before 4 a.m. on Douglas under the I-135 overpass, west of Grove. Sedgwick county dispatch confirms one person suffered critical injuries while two others were seriously hurt. Police on scene did not say what caused the crash. Traffic on east Douglas is reduced to one lane while crews clear the scene.
