With the Broncos looking to bet on some free agents, let's review the five of the Broncos' greatest free agents in history.
When it comes to free agents, Elway and the Broncos have just left the huddle and are ready to make some plays. But before you start getting nervous, just remember that some of Denver's best bets have been on free agents. Here's 5 of the Broncos' greatest free agents:
5. DeMarcus Ware

Ware was formerly a Cowboy who was seemingly out of gas, yet after
three years with the Broncos Ware dominated the field with 63 tackles and 21.5 sacks, helping play a key role in the Broncos' third ring – making him one of the Broncos' greatest free agents.
4. Bill Romanowski

Say what you will about Bill Romanowski, but the man brought the fear factor to the Broncos' D. This former Eagle, in his time here he took the quarterback down 23 times, had 11 interceptions, and 339 tackles. And yes, he's got rings.
3. Jake Plummer

Jake-the-snake, formerly an Arizona Cardinal, was signed by the Broncos in 2003 where he would post the greatest numbers of his career. In what seemed like a tumultuous time for the Broncos, Plummer's play action roll-outs made him one of the most exciting players to watch, and on top of that he was a winner. With an overall record of 39-15 as a starter, 71 touchdown passes, and a trip to the AFC championship Plummer is still a favorite among many Broncos fans and one of the Broncos' greatest free agents.
2. Ed McCaffrey

After a lackluster run with the Giants and 49e
rs, the Broncos invested in McCaffrey for a mere 1.5 million over
three years. If you're reading this you know the rest is histor
y! But, in case you forgo
t, McCaffrey caught 462 passes
, had 46 touchdowns and
was one of the best blocking WRs.
1. Peyton Manning

It wasn't long ago that a 36-year-old Peyton Manning found his way to Denver. And despite his surgeries, Manning threw for over 17,000 yards, 140 touchdowns, and a had an overall record of 45-12. Not to mention he's got a new ring to show off. Manning definitely earns a spot on the Broncos' greatest free agents list.
