Spoiler alert: It's mostly Chargers.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, cars in movies and TV are their own characters. After all, we like to anthropomorphize our cars – giving them names or, at the very least, have looked at a car and said, "it looks happy, angry, sad, tough, etc." So, why not give these stars the credit they deserve? With that said, here are five of the most famous Dodges in TV & film:

Dukes of Hazzard -- 1969 Dodge Charger - General Lee

The General Lee is probably the most iconic car in TV history. Even people who've never seen The Dukes of Hazzard recognize this orange 1969 Dodge Charger with the "01" on the side.

Vanishing Point -- 1970 Dodge Challenger

Vanishing Point is one of my all-time favorite films. For those of you who aren't familiar, it's kind of like Easy Rider in its essence, but instead of two guys on motorcycles, it features a white 1970 Dodge Challenger. The film was also shot partly in Colorado.

The Fast and the Furious -- 1970 Dodge Charger

There's no denying that the Fast and Furious series have captivated both gearheads and regular people alike. So for those of you who don't know, Dom Toretto's black muscle car – the one he's afraid to drive – is a 1970 Dodge Charger.

Walker, Texas Ranger -- 1995 Dodge Ram

Walker, Texas Ranger is the reason Chuck Norris's name is synonymous with kicking ass and America. His vehicle of choice? A 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab SLT. That probably helped sell a few.

Bullitt -- 1968 Dodge Charger

Of course, one of the most iconic car chase scenes of all time isn't without a helping of Mopar muscle. In this classic gearhead film, a 1968 Dodge Charger is thrashed on the streets of San Francisco as it tries to chase down a 1968 Mustang Fastback.

Other, honorable mentions include the Chargers in Dirty Mary Crazy Larry and Quinten Tarantino's Deathproof.

George Erbert
George is a Denver native who has an unapologetic love for cars, strong coffee, road trips, and -- despite his youthful appearance -- bygone eras of country music. In his free time, you'll find him carving mountain back roads in whatever car he's lent for the weekend, reading, writing, or unsuccessfully trying to replicate things shown on any of Anthony Bourdain's TV shows.
