Here's the Scoop!
Most of you know that Cold Stone Creamery is a large multi-national chain serving up some seriously unique ice cream creations. You've also probably sensed that everything is all very corporate (i.e., all the branding is consistent, all of the stores possess a similar layout, and of course, they all have the same cold mixing surface), but that's about where it ends. As it turns out, the "Chipotle" of ice cream is far more mom-and-pop than you realize. Here are five things about Cold Stone that may shock you:
The waffle bowls and waffle cones are homemade.

Unless people are getting a sweet start to their day, Cold Stone employees spend most mornings making the perfectly crisped waffle cones and bowls.
The ice cream is made right there in the store.

Most chains pre-prepare their food and distribute it to different locations where it's "finished." Not Cold Stone. All of the ice cream is made right there in-house.
Pick the wrong flavor? They'll make you a new one.

If you somehow find a way to make a bad combination at Cold Stone, just tell them you don't like it. Oftentimes they'll be happy to make you a new one at no cost to you. They're actually committed to making customers happy.
Don't want too much? Order a kids' size!

The portions at Cold Stone are generous, which is a good thing, but what if you're not in the mood for all that sweet? Well, anybody can order a kids' size from Cold Stone! It's about 3/4 of the "Like It" size and just enough sweet to satisfy.
Not all Cold Stones are created equal.

Each store is individually owned, meaning stores can vary slightly. Some owners are more active than others, and some go the extra mile. One, in particular, is the Parker location Cold Stone. Not only do they have some of the best staff, they do family night every Wednesday where kids get a free creation (with the purchase of an adult size), and it's the only location that I know of that's willing to help you throw an ice cream charity event to help raise money for your cause.
