Crews to continue response Monday after vehicle lands in Missouri River



Omaha Fire Department crews attempted a rescue Sunday after a report of a vehicle going into the Missouri River.

Police received a call about a white car going into the Missouri River just after 3 p.m. Sunday near NP Dodge Park.

Witnesses told OFD that they saw a vehicle drive down the boat ramp, float downstream for a moment, then sink into the river.

OFD and Eppley Fire boats used sonar to try to locate the vehicle. The search was called off Sunday evening, as the sun was going down quickly.

Emergency crews will continue their response Monday morning, according to an OFD official.

One arrested, one injured after shooting in South Omaha



One person has been arrested in connection to a shooting in South Omaha on Sunday.

Omaha Police say they received a call of an armed party near 11th and Center streets and a separate call about a shooting near 12th and Center streets at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

OPD said the two calls were related.

Police said after an altercation, a 28-year-old man was shot and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Detroit Afusia, 32, was arrested on charges of first degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony, OPD says.

The investigation is ongoing.

Shooting victim turns up at Omaha hospital, police investigating



Police are investigating after a shooting victim showed up at an Omaha hospital Sunday night.

Just before 9 p.m., officers were called after a man with a gunshot wound walked into a hospital in the area of 72nd St. and Sorensen Pkwy.

Omaha Police believe that the victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Farnam closure starting Monday as part of Omaha Streetcar work



Starting Monday, Farnam Street between 36th and 37th streets in Omaha will be completely closed.

The closure comes as phase two of construction for the incoming streetcar starts up.

First Alert 6 is told that crews will be replacing sewer infrastructure below Farnam Street. The next bridge up for replacement is the one on Farnam, after the demolishing of the Harney Street bridge over the weekend.

Officials expect that the closure will last for 15 days. Drivers are asked to use an alternate route such as Dodge Street.

NSP Trooper Kyle McAcy’s funeral set for this week



Hundreds of people are expected to line the streets in Omaha on Thursday for the funeral of Kyle McAcy on Thursday.

McAcy, a Nebraska State Trooper, was recently killed in the line of duty while responding to a crash on I-80 . He served as a NSP trooper for 10 years.

Donations can be made in McAcy’s memory here . The family says the money raised will be donated to Children’s Nebraska.

The public is invited to visit McAcy’s vehicle parked outside Troop A Headquarters in Omaha station as a memorial.

Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday in Liberty First Credit Union Arena, located at 7300 Q St. in Ralston.

Report shows weekly gas prices in Omaha metro



Average gas prices in Omaha have fallen 7.1 cents per gallon in the last week, according to the latest GasBuddy price report.

As of Monday, the report found that gas is now averaging $2.96 a gallon.

“Prices in Omaha are 6.0 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 10.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago,” GasBuddy says.

On the national scale, the average price of gas has fallen 3.8 cents in the last week, with an average of $3.08 a gallon, the report states.

GasBuddy says they regularly survey 300 stations in the metro for this information.
