PARK RAPIDS — The Perham wrestling team hit the road to Park Rapids for the Section 8AA individual wrestling tournament on Friday, Feb. 21. The Yellowjackets saw six individuals battle to the championship match. Dresden Wegscheid (121), Peyton Trout (127), Jonny Ramos (139), Isaac Adams (145), Carsen Ziese (152), and Tiegan Detloff (172) all made it to the finals on day two. All six individuals received a first round bye. Wegscheid took down Alexandria’s Connor Malone by fall (1:03) in the quarterfinals. He won by major decision (12-3) over DGF’s Sam Schmitz in the semifinals. Trout won by fall (0:42) over Minnewaska’s Austin Schuler in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Trout defeated Sauk Centre-Melrose’s Dominic Kerzman by decision (8-1). Ramos took down Sauk Centre-Melrose’s Teddy Wiechman by tech fall (20-2) in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Ramos defeated Detroit Lakes’ Everett Northup by tech fall (22-7). Adams won by decision (8-2) over Minnewaska’s Jude Bailey in the quarterfinals. He took down Pequot Lakes’ Trevor Holmberg by decision (7-5) in the semifinals. Ziese won by tech fall (18-2) over United Clay Becker’s Rafael Sanchez Velez in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Ziese won by tech fall (17-2) over Detroit Lakes’ Donavan Zima. Detloff won by fall (1:14) over Pequot Lakes’ Andrew Volk in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Detloff defeated DGF’s TJ Fuller by tech fall (22-6). Beckham Bunkowske (107) went 1-2 on the day including a loss by fall (5:20) against Alexandria’s Brock Manderschied. Bo Bush (114) went 2-2 and lost to Roseau’s Weston Sprabary by decision (4-0) in the third round of the consolation bracket. Nick Peters (160) went 2-2 with a loss to Alexandria’s Zachary Brezina by fall (2:54). Tryston Larson (189) went 2-1 on day one with a loss to Detroit Lakes’ Ryan Francis by major decision (17-6) in the semifinals. Logan Guck (215) went 1-1 with a loss to DGF’s Caleb Johnson by tech fall (16-0). Cash Burke (285) went 2-1 with a win against Alexandria’s Jaxon Werder by decision (7-3).
