Healthgrades is an online company that posts reviews of doctors and hospitals. 7 Colorado Hospitals made their annual “Best Hospitals” list.
According to Healthgrades’ lists of the 50 and 100 “Best Hospitals for 2017,” Colorado Springs topped the list with two hospitals. Centura Health - Penrose Saint Francis Health Services and St. Francis Medical Center topped America’s top 50, with no other city having more than one hospital. According to a statement by Healthgrades, patients treated in hospitals achieving the America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award™ have, on average, a 27.1% lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive this award. The statement continued;If all hospitals, as a group, performed similarly to hospitals achieving Healthgrades 2017 America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award, on average, 179,438 lives could potentially be saved.”
Penrose St. Francis Health Services in Colorado Springs has been named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for 10 consecutive years. The hospital engages consumers using multiple strategies, including an inter-visit communication program that acts as a digital health coach.
