Washington, D.C., stands out from other metropolitan cities for its lack of skyscrapers. The city enacted restrictions on the maximum heights of buildings back in 1910, which is why you will not see any tall buildings in the city. This doesn't hold the city back from hosting some amazing rooftop bars with great views. Check out these iconic bars!

1. POV

POV gains its name for its beautiful views of the White House. It is just one block from the White House after all! POV is on the fancier side, and guests should be aware that they enforce a dress code before heading over. The website advises, "Please no athletic wear, baseball caps, flip-flops, tank tops, casual/athletic sneakers, or tattered/worn clothing. Collared shirts preferred."

2. Biergarten Haus

This rooftop bar is a great spot to grab a German beer and classics such as Bavarian pretzel rolls, wurst sandwiches, and schnitzel. You may even catch the live polka band!

3. Roofers Union

Located in the Adams Morgan neighborhood, this bar lets you enjoy the outdoors while drinking in the glass-enclosed space.

4. Nellie's Sports Bar

On Friday and Saturday, they are open until 3 a.m.!

5. The Observatory

The bar is on the top floor of the Graham Hotel and has a swimming pool. It also has a dress code which the staff does enforce. They ask their guests to dress "Georgetown chic."

6. CityBar

7. Top of the Gate
