If you've ever been to the National Mall you know it is a beautiful and historic place -- that can sometimes also get very touristy. If you happen to get hungry while taking in so many monuments, you can walk around the National Mall and check out these places that are managing to stay under-the-radar!

GCDC Grilled Cheese Bar is perfect for families traveling around Washington, D.C. This fast-casual grilled cheese spot has many guilty pleasure items such as a French onion grilled cheese, loaded tots, and chili. Guests can even make their own grilled cheese! Just a half a block from the White House, this spot won't take you far away from all the attractions!

Where: Price range: $6-$10 This local chain is a Washington, D.C., favorite! Amsterdam Falafel offers rice bowls or pitas where guests can pick and add their own toppings to their falafel. If you find yourself hungry near the Capitol, head over to We the Pizza for some filling (and unique) slices. We the Pizza offers over a dozen different pizzas so you and your family can try a bunch of different flavors. One of the best has to be "For the Greek in Us," featuring feta cheese, mozzarella, tomatoes, red onions, oregano, and olives. Another favorite is the "Colletti's Notorious BBQ Pie," which has slow-roasted pulled pork, BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, and crispy onions.
