An 83-year-old woman was gored by a bison in Yellowstone National Park over the weekend. She sustained serious injuries and was taken to a medical facility in the park, then flown to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

"The bison, defending its space, came within a few feet of the woman and lifted her about a foot off the ground with its horns," the National Park Service said in a statement. "The woman sustained serious injuries."

The woman, who was from Greenville, South Carolina, was near the Storm Point Trail at Yellowstone Lake on Saturday.

No other information about the woman or her condition has been released.

This, unfortunately, is not the first time there have been incidents with the bison at Yellowstone. Back in 2023, a woman was also gored and severely injured. In 2022, two people were also injured in the park.

Yellowstone National Park requires people to keep at least 25 yards away from all large animals, including bison, elk, deer, and moose, and at least 100 yards away from bears and wolves.

Back in 2020, we reported on several instances of bison incidents, including one between a bison and a bear!
