The Met Gala is always an exciting event to watch celebrities and fashion icons show off their style on the red carpet. This annual event brings tons of looks, from the iconic ones to the ones that missed the mark. Some outfits are incredible and creative, while some are just plain boring. This year's Met Gala focuses on the Costume Institute’s newest exhibition, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. While you may expect to see the stars dressed as the tired princess (AND I'M SURE SOMEONE WILL), that is not what this means. According to Vogue, the exhibit is based around fragile pieces of iconic clothing that are so delicate, they will never be worn again.

Of course, the exhibit and the dress code are tied together. The dress code for the event is “The Garden of Time.” The dress code is always a bit confusing, which has definitely caused some celebs (and/or their stylists) to completely misunderstand—or not even bother trying—to fit the theme. Whether a celebrity embraces the dress code with flowers or clocks or more subtle references to the theme, which was inspired by a short story of that name, it's sure to be as interesting as always.

I did not go to fashion school, but like many pop-culture fans, I love to look at and judge all of the red carpet looks. It's so much fun to see who dazzles (and less fun to see who flops)! So, let's get into my favorite looks from the 2024 Met Gala. Whether, with my tremendous authority on the matter, I think they execute the theme incredibly well, or I just think they look fantastic, these are my top looks:

Zendaya

Yes, yes, yes! I mean, are we surprised she slayed yet again? The deep red makeup, the butterfly on her neck, the grapes, the blue tulle wrapped around her, the green sparkly dress that we see peeking out, OMG. This is what I look forward to with the Met. It's gorgeous, it's exciting, it's perfect!

Elle Fanning

She looks like a gorgeous ice queen! I love the icy crystal appearance of this dress. Her skin has a stunning glazed look, too.

Mindy Kaling

I love the swooshes of the material surrounding her. It looks like it's actively in motion and so fluid. The main part of the dress looks very lovely, clean, and well-made.

Bad Bunny

This is a fun look! I like how Bad Bunny is a guy who dresses more daringly with fashion than simply wearing a suit. The hat, the fabric bouquet, and the sunglasses are all certain touches that stood out to me.

Taylor Russell

I love the structure of this. The wood-looking bodice is really cool, and I love her hair and makeup.

Tyla

The sand look is unique and interesting and looks great on her! Her hair and makeup are also stunning.

Sydney Sweeney

This feels like Cinderella, but if you gave her some edge. It's super fun. I love the flower appliques, the black gloves, and the body glitter. Also, she totally pulls off the black hair.

Alia Bhatt

This look is sooo pretty and so springtime. The detailing is absolutely beautiful here. I also think it's really special her and her team took inspiration from Indian culture.

Lil Nas X

Another man who strays away from boring suits is Lil Nas X. Although it's not his craziest look, it's absolutely not dull! The design of the panels look really nice, and it definitely suits him.

These are a few of my favorite looks so far. I'll keep you updated on what else catches my eye!
