Turn Frosty Nights into Toasty Memories!
Winter and spirits pair together beautifully. Whether you're celebrating the holidays with some eggnog or warming up with a hot toddy after a day of skiing, there's something special about sipping on a drink during the colder months. Drinking does warm you up, after all. At least temporarily (see below). Why not add some extra fun to your winter drinking experience by incorporating some games?
Keep in Mind: Always remember to drink responsibly. And if you prefer, feel free to trade alcohol for water or your favorite non-alcoholic drink!
Fun(ish) Fact: While drinking does give you a warm sensation, it actually causes you to rapidly lose body heat. This means it also increase the risk of hypothermia. Once again, please be responsible!
Cheers To the Governor
One of the best things about this game is its simplicity—you can play it anywhere, no props needed! The premise is straightforward: players count from 1 to 21, with rules assigned to specific numbers. The first and always active rule is that the numbers seven and fourteen are swapped. This means when it’s your turn and you reach seven, you say “fourteen,” and when you reach fourteen, you say “seven.” Once players successfully make it to 21, new rules are assigned to different numbers, making the game increasingly challenging and hilarious as it progresses. It's a guaranteed way to spark laughter and fun!
Kings Cup
Kings Cup is a classic drinking game. All you need is a can and some cards. Each card corresponds to a different rule, such as five = guys drink (there are some variations depending on who you ask). Each card drawn then gets slipped under the tab of the can. When the can cracks open, the person who drew that card has to chug all of it. What a party game!
Flip Cup
Flip cup is another classic drinking game! It's most commonly played in teams as a relay. Pour a small sip of your drink into your cup. When it’s your turn, drink it quickly. Then, position your cup at the end of the table and attempt to flip upside down. Whichever team finishes first wins.
Boom Cup/Stack Cup/Rage Cage
If you enjoy chaos and commotion, this is the game for you. You'll need booze, plastic cups, and a ping pong ball. I'm utterly confused every time this game is played, but you can read up on the rules here.
Drunk Jenga
Take your regular game of Jenga and add some hilarious rules written on each block. For example, "Drink if you've ever gone night skiing". The more you play, the tipsier everyone gets and the more difficult it is to keep the tower standing.
Hot Potato
For a more laid-back drinking game, try playing hot potato with a twist. Instead of passing around a physical object, players pass around a drink and have to take a sip every time the music stops.
Hallmark Christmas Movie Drinking Game
It's so cozy to curl up on the couch and watch a cheesy holiday movie. It's even more fun when you involve a drinking game that picks fun at the movie. Check out this Hallmark Christmas movie Drinking game to get in the holiday spirit!
Holiday Karaoke Challenges
There's nothing like a little bit of tipsy karaoke! This time, we're going to add a fun holiday twist. No lyric screens allowed! Queue up the holiday music and drink if you forget the lyrics to a winter classic.
Snowman Building Contest
Okay, you may have to go outside for this one. We have to embrace the snow a little bit! Just be sure to bundle up and listen to your body. Drinking affects your judgment, so it's crucial to always drink responsibly. Okay, back to the fun stuff. Take your crew outside and have a little snowman competition. Whoever's snowman has the least amount of votes in the end has to take a shot. Plus, you get an adorable snowman crew as a bonus!
Santa Hat
We've got another game that involves a movie viewing! For this one, all you need is a Santa hat and a cozy movie night. Place the Santa hat on the corner of your TV. Every time a character in the movie “wears” the hat, everyone takes a drink.
These games add even more variety to your winter drinking game lineup, providing opportunities for laughter, creativity, and memorable moments.
