Later this summer, the Denver Zoo will be opening its doors to a new tiger that's being imported from Russia's Moscow Zoo. Martin, a three-year-old male, is being brought in to breed with Nikita, the only female tiger.
Martin, a tiger from Russia's Moscow Zoo, will be the fourth Amur tiger living in The Edge, the Denver Zoo's latest habitat. He will help support the
Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan (SSP) by providing valuable genetics since he is not related to any tigers in the United States.

Amur tigers face extinction and are considered endangered. The Zoo hopes that by breeding Nikita with Martin, it will be a stepping stone to save these incredible creatures from extinction.
Martin's arrival date has not been announced yet, but you can stay up-to-date by checking out the Denver Zoo's
Facebook page. When he does arrive, he will not immediately be on exhibit at The Edge, but instead be in routine quarantine.
