A motorcycle crash on Sunday in Abilene that claimed a man's life is under investigation, police said in a media release.

John Thomas Bell, 37, of Abilene succumbed to his injuries, Abilene police said Monday.

About 6:19 p.m. Sunday, the Abilene Police Department Patrol Division responded to a collision in the 1500 block of South Treadaway Boulevard, police said.

Initial reports indicate a motorcycle was traveling northbound on South Treadaway at a high rate of speed and crashed, police said. The motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries.

He was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in critical condition and ultimately succumbed to his injuries, police said.
