Following a frustrating 4-3 loss, in which Jace LaViolette, despite playing with a broken hand, tried to lead the Aggies to victory in the SEC Tournament quarterfinal against LSU, it appears the curtain may be closing on the 2025 baseball season.

The Aggies' season isn’t officially over until Selection Monday, when the NCAA selection committee determines if they’ll get a second shot at redemption. However, after suffering a home sweep at the hands of the Missouri Tigers , they needed at least two wins against Georgia, but managed only one.

It's been a challenging first year for head coach Michael Earley. Despite inheriting a talented team, early-season injuries and inconsistent defensive play put the Aggies in a deep hole. Yet, the players have shown unwavering support for coach Earley, refusing to give up even when prospects looked bleak.

Ultimately, winning is what matters, and the Aggies didn’t do enough of it this season, potentially jeopardizing the future of the coaching staff. Below are some of the best fan and media reactions to the Aggies' SEC tournament quarterfinal loss to LSU.

Jace LaViolette shows what it means to be an Aggie

Even with a broken hand, LaViolette fought through the pain and collected a few RBI

The rollercoaster ride of a season left some fans heartbroken

Man I really want to cry right now for this team because it’s a bunch of what ifs 😢….

Idk what the fate is for Mic Early but this is business so I understand either way. #Gigem 👍🏾

I love my A&M sports and thanks!!!

For others, it was just more Aggie hope than despair

Then came the calls for Michael Earley's job

Earley should be fired, but not for the tournament at all…

To preside over the situation we were in, allowing for zero margin for error in Hoover, with one of the most talented teams in the country, there is no other conclusion to reach.

Some even think of keeping him with little discussion

Okay, sappy time over. We should fire Michael Earley without much question.

Now here's where the people who embrace mediocrity tell me I never played baseball, I'm not a good Aggie, or whatever. Not here to argue.

Others are just ready to leave it up to Texas A&M AD Trev Alberts, but appreciate his time in Aggieland

Then there are those who want to give him another chance

Maybe I’m swept up in the emotions of this game, but I’m back to being all in on Coach Earley. This team has had a lot of ups and downs, but they clearly are fighting for him and this university.

I think he deserves another go around.

The season is not officially over yet, but the outlook is bleak

FINAL | LSU 4, Texas A&M 3

The 2025 A&M baseball season is likely over at 30-26 overall.

The Aggies gave the Tigers a run for their money tonight, but unearned runs and some baserunning miscues cost them a shot to extend their run in Hoover.

Final fate determined on Monday.

Now the Aggies will have to wait until Selection Monday to see if they have any baseball left this season
