Alabama’s basketball team was having a season to remember right up until tip-off of the highly anticipated “Iron Bowl of Basketball” last Saturday against top-ranked Auburn. After all, the Crimson Tide were ranked 2nd and had their bitter rival coming to Tuscaloosa for a first-ever No. 1 vs. No. 2 in the rivalry’s history that obviously is steeped in football tradition but not nearly as much basketball-wise. Then the game started, and the Tigers led by 9 at halftime on the way to a 94-85 victory, spoiling all the fun and the chance for Alabama to take over as No. 1 in the AP Poll in addition to being No. 1 in the Coaches Poll. But there was a big opportunity on Wednesday night for the Crimson Tide to rebound in a big way in another SEC showdown game at No. 15 Missouri . Alabama was now at No. 4 in the AP Poll, and this would be the perfect chance for Nate Oats’s team to deliver a huge road victory after the disappointing home loss to Auburn. Then the game started, and Alabama was defenseless yet again, giving up a whopping 110 points in a 110-98 loss that came complete with Oats slamming his clipboard to the court in Columbia in anger. But, unfortunately for the Crimson Tide, that wasn’t the end of the recent trauma. According to the Tuscaloosa News , citing freshman Labaron Philon’s TikTok account, the Alabama team remains stuck in Missouri as of Thursday afternoon because of inclement weather. And according to the comments section, the Crimson Tide still hadn’t gotten out of Missouri as of late Thursday afternoon , making their time in Columbia even more forgettable than it already was during Wednesday night’s loss. Per the Tuscaloosa News, all morning departures out of Columbia Regional Airport on Thursday morning were canceled. When the team finally does get back to Tuscaloosa, it will have yet another chance to make things right when No. 17 Kentucky comes calling for another showdown on Saturday.
