ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man who admitted to drunk driving leading to the death of a woman more than a year ago will spend the rest of the decade behind bars. Alex Tafoya pled guilty to homicide by vehicle DWI in October.

In November 2023 , Tafoya hit a car on I-25 after a night of drinking. Amanda Ortiz was seriously injured and died at the hospital nine days later. Judge Joseph Montaño sentenced Tafoya to seven years.
