All lanes of the West Virginia Turnpike have reopened following tractor-trailer crashes and fires overnight in Fayette County.

Officials said the southbound lanes fully reopened just before 4 p.m., but there was still some lingering traffic congestion in the area.

One southbound lane of the West Virginia Turnpike is still closed after a tractor-trailer crash overnight in Fayette County.

A tractor-trailer heading north on the Turnpike rolled over about midnight near the 66 mile marker in the Mahan area, spilling its cargo of heavy plastic pipes, according to a news release from the West Virginia Department of Transportation.

Two tractor-trailers heading southbound hit the pipes, causing them to crash and catch fire, which then spread to brush in the area, the news release said.

All northbound lanes have since reopened, but one southbound lane remains closed as of 11:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported in the incident, but officials said three cars in addition to the tractor-trailers were also damaged.
