AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo Zoo is seeking old, retired and fake Christmas tree donations ahead of the holiday season.

The zoo is asking the community to bring trees of any size, shape or color. The tree should not come with ornaments or lights, but a pre-lit tree, working or not, is allowed.

Organizers say the donated trees will help transform the zoo into a winter wonderland for its ‘Zoo Lights Before Christmas’ event.

Donations can be dropped off at the Amarillo Zoo during regular hours at the admissions booth.

Organizers say repurposing old trees reduces waste and supports the zoo’s commitment to sustainability and wildlife conservation.

Donations will be accepted through Dec. 3.
