There's more to your Amazon Prime account than just free shipping. Prime Gaming brings exclusive in-game deals and Twitch content.

Four years ago, Amazon debuted a service tied to the popular streaming platform that it had acquired in 2014, Twitch. "Twitch Prime", as it was called then, was touted as a sort of Amazon Prime for gamers and streamers. Now, that service is rebranding and relaunching as Prime Gaming.

A subscription to Prime Gaming comes bundled with an Amazon Prime subscription and includes free games, game content (like cosmetic items), and a free Twitch channel subscription. In a statement on the relaunching, the company asserted that Prime Gaming would come with “more new content for more games than ever before, plus more free games, and a monthly Twitch channel subscription.”

Prime Gaming GM Larry Plotnick said in a statement:

“Prime members already get the best of TV, movies, and music, and now we’re expanding our entertainment offerings to include the best of gaming. We’re giving customers new content that makes playing their favorite games on every platform even better. So no matter what kind of games you love, and no matter where you play them, they’ll be even better with Prime Gaming.”

Prime Gaming currently offers in-game content for Apex Legends, Grand Theft Auto Online, League of Legends, Red Dead Online, EA Sports FIFA 20, and more than 20 other games across all platforms. A Prime Gaming account also includes a free collection of PC games every month. This month the collection consists of 20-plus free games like the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection, Metal Slug 2, and Treachery in Beatdown City.

Twitch Prime Subscription

Having a Prime Gaming account allows you to "sub" to a content creator on Twitch once a month. Though it costs you nothing to use, this sub translates to about $2.50 that Twitch will pay the streamer, for each month you subscribe to them. So if you know a friend or family member that streams and have an Amazon Prime account, you can basically toss money their way for free and show support with a Twitch Prime subscription.
