Amber Alert issued in Rock Island for 4-year-old girl missing after car stolen



A car stolen in Rock Island this morning with a 4-year-old child inside was recovered, but the child remains missing.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Authorities have issued an Amber Alert for a missing 4-year-old girl after the vehicle she was in was stolen in Rock Island Thursday morning.

The incident happened around 6:07 a.m. in the 1300 block of 14th 1/2 Street when a car was left running with the child in a car seat in the back.

About 17 minutes later, the vehicle was found near 8th Street and 15th Avenue, but the child, named Blessing, was not inside.

Blessing is described as an African American female, approximately 3 feet tall and 50 pounds.

She was wearing a pink jacket, pink boots and blue pants.

Officers from the Rock Island Police Department, Rock Island County Sheriff's Department, and Moline Police Department are involved in the search for Blessing.

Drones are being used to aid the search, and teams are conducting a door-to-door canvass in the surrounding area.

Officials are urging anyone with information about Blessing's whereabouts to contact the Rock Island Police Department immediately.
