ST. LOUIS — Anheuser-Busch is seeking $41 million in incentives for new equipment that the brewery said will help it reduce its reliance on fossil fuels.

A-B said the investment, over five years, will reduce its usage of natural gas. The brewery plans to spend an additional $42 million to $72 million on other equipment and services related to the project, it said in the board bill filed with the board of aldermen.

The bonds will provide A-B a 10-year personal property tax abatement worth $1.2 million, according to the city's economic development agency.

The new project would follow other environmentally friendly practices the company has employed: Since 2012, the brewery said it has reduced its water consumption by 22%, fuel by 30% and electricity by 25%, city documents show.
