SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Pineapple Whip fans are in luck this week as the 11th annual Whip Solstice is set to begin on Wednesday, Jan. 22. According to a press release from Pineapple Whip, the annual event will run until Sunday, Jan. 26 from 12 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at its location on South Campbell Avenue (3850 S. Campbell Ave., just north of Krispy Kreme). The traditional, original pineapple flavor will be available all weekend long, with strawberry kiwi appearing on Wednesday and Thursday, lemon berry on Friday and Saturday and mango peach on Sunday. Limited quantities of pints will be available in all flavors (pineapple, mango peach, strawberry kiwi, lemon berry, grape, banana pomegranate, orange and watermelon). Zach Fortner, who has worked in the family business since childhood, said the annual event started out as a joke. “For as long as I can remember, customers have always told us how they wished we were open in the fall and winter months,” Fortner said. “Back in 2015, as more of a joke than anything, we thought it would be fun to open for a couple days in the dead of winter. We assumed a few superfans might turn up but were shocked we had lines. Eleven years on, we’re excited to still be providing a little winter pick-me-up for our customers.” Pineapple Whip is also offering a drive-through service so customers can get their “whip fix” from their cars.
