Due to rough weather conditions that led to a poor apple crop this season, the Gaver Farm had to cancel their Pick Your Own Apples event for the rest of the year.

"This has been a hard year for Apple growers," Gaver Farms said in an Instagram post. "In May we lost a lot of blooms (blooms yield apples) to a late frost. In July we had a record number of days over ninety degrees and no rain (causing smaller apples). After a dry August, we received 12 inches of rain the week before we opened for pick you own. Sadly, almost every apple in the Orchard has split from taking on too much water too fast or perished for other stress-related reasons."

2020 has truly been a challenging year. We are devastated to share our pick your own apples are closed for the remainder of the year. This has been a hard year for Apple growers. In May we lost a lot of blooms (blooms yield apples) to a late frost. In July we had a record number of days over ninety degrees and no rain (causing smaller apples). After a dry August, we received 12 inches of rain the week before we opened for pick you own. Sadly, almost every apple in the Orchard has split from taking on too much water too fast or perished for other stress related reasons. If you were planning to pick apples here this fall, we are so sorry! This crop loss was out of our control and unforeseen until we checked the Orchard this morning in preparation for the weekend. 🍎 Pre-picked apples are available in the Farm Market.
