The administrative staff is the glue of business.

Unfortunately, Administrative Professional's Day isn't a national holiday, but we think it should be. That's because administrative professionals are the masters of timing and planning that allow business to happen. Without them, we'd be a mess – even in small companies like ours. So, to show our appreciation, we came up with a few ideas of what to get our administrative staff, and we won't mind if you steal our ideas!

Along with a card or flowers you might want to consider the following:

1. Cold Stone Ice Cream Cake

Grocery store cake is good for a three-year-old, but as an adult I want the calories to be worth it. Step it up and get them a Cold Stone ice cream cake, and if you're lucky, you might get a piece. Not every Cold Stone is created equal, depending on where you're at our favorite cake-making locations are Cold Stone in ParkerCold Stone at CornerstarCold Stone SouthlandsCold Stone at Quincy and Buckley.

2. Gift Card

Whether you're in the DTC area or you're downtown, a gift card to Pizza RepublicaMidiCi DTC, or Hapa Sushi can make for a treat that's two-fold: 1) they'll have an excuse to go out for a nice meal and 2) it'll be cheap with the gift card. Just drop by and pick one up on your way home from the office. When all else fails, Target and Starbucks are always good go-to's.

3. A Piece of Jewelry

I was informed by my female co-worker that nice jewelry can be found for under $100 and that she feels like it's a great gift – or at least, an accessory to a gift. At OCN, we like small, Colorado-local businesses, and so Pinetree Jewelers is our choice.

4. A Bottle of Wine

A bottle of wine, beer, liquor, or whatever they drink, is always a great thing to give. (After all, you're probably the reason they drink.) I live south of town which means Bubbles Liquor World in Castle Rock is my go-to for unique bottles.

5. Fun Doughnuts

Who doesn't love Voodoo Doughnut? I'm half convinced doughnuts can solve any problem (except diabetes) so why not indulge?

6. Good Coffee

As part of the administrative staff, you're the warrior on the front lines, which means that you need good coffee fit for doing battle. Hence, our favorite is anything from Black Rifle Coffee Co.
